The opportunity

We are currently looking for a diligent and highly motivated Research Associate with a strong industry background to join our Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM) in-vivo pharmacology department. In this role, you will design and execute in-vivo experiments in rodents to evaluate the pharmacodynamics, efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. 

These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like: 

Establish, validate and use disease relevant rodent models (e.g., obesity and diabetes) and readouts to support various drug discovery projects.

Collaboratively design and execute in-vivo studies, and interpret data from in-vivo experiments to assess the pharmacodynamics and therapeutic efficacy of novel compounds.

Support the development and characterization of novel in-vivo models for obesity-related comorbidities. 

Diligently follow national and international animal welfare laws, and align with the company's commitment to the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine).

Continuously improve test systems, analyses, and data evaluation. Contribute to work process optimization including data capture, storage and assay automation. 

Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group.

Qualifications

MSc/BSc in Life Sciences or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with at least 3 years of industry experience working with in-vivo models. 

Mouse work experience required; managing animal cohorts, injections via various routes, behavioral assays, mouse monitoring, tissue sampling and processing.

Possession of LTK 1 certification (FELASA equivalent) is highly desirable.

Experience in rodent models of obesity and functional readouts, such as glucose and insulin tolerance tests, body composition analysis, whole-body metabolism (Promethion), blood pressure.

You communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally. Skillfully able to interact with people and have strong commitment to teamwork.

Excellent data management and record-keeping skills are required.
