The PositionWe are seeking an experienced Research Associate with a strong industry background to join our Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM) in vitro department. In this role, you will design and execute in-vitro experiments using complex cellular models to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
The OpportunityCultivation of adipocytes and myocytes from human and animal tissues, optimizing protocols for primary cell isolation, differentiation and maintenance.
Execution of functional cell based and enzymatic assays to study metabolic pathways and other relevant muscle and adipocyte related readouts.
Experience in advanced cellular and biochemical techniques, such as cell painting, and metabolic flux analysis using Seahorse to evaluate cellular bioenergetics.
Strong knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry.
Analyze experimental data with statistical tools, preparing high-quality reports and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
Experience with animal handling, treatment and functional metabolic experimentation is advantageous

Qualifications:
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field, or have completed vocational training in biology. A minimum of 3 years in a pharma industry laboratory setting is required.
You are proficient in cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques and are familiar with metabolic and/or cardiovascular cellular models.
Proficiency in in vitro methods is essential, with practical experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques
You bring experience working with functional assays in metabolic and/or cardiovascular relevant cellular models (e.g. energy expenditure, glucose and lipid metabolism).
In vivo experience is highly valued, particularly in the context of metabolic and cardiovascular research.
Your ability to analyze data with precision and manage records meticulously ensures research outcomes are both reliable and reproducible.
You communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally. Skillfully able to interact with people and have strong commitment to teamwork.
Strong organizational skills, excellent data management and record-keeping skills are required.

This position is located in Basel, Switzerland.
This position requires on-site presence in Basel five days a week, with remote work permitted only in exceptional circumstances.
