Research Associate
Job Title: Research AssociateJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join a dynamic team, working primarily on bench-based molecular biology techniques. This role involves performing DNA extractions from blood, conducting PCR and sequencing (including n-point PCR or r-PCR), and applying aseptic techniques. The ideal candidate will follow standard operating procedures meticulously and document their work with precision. This position offers opportunities to learn and apply molecular techniques in an automated process and to work collaboratively within a specialized biotech team.

ResponsibilitiesPerform DNA extractions from blood samples using aseptic techniques.Conduct PCR and sequencing procedures, including n-point PCR or r-PCR.Follow and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately.Create and manage bench controls, performing tasks that may vary in time commitment from half a day to two weeks.Collaborate with the platform integration team and cross-functional teams during different project stages.Solve problems effectively and communicate efficiently within the team.Adapt to repetitive tasks while maintaining high performance and delivering quality bench controls.
Essential SkillsProficiency in GLP, PCR, DNA extraction, and aseptic techniques.Experience with nucleic acid techniques, including purification and quantification.Familiarity with molecular biology, including sample preparation using magnetic particles.Competency in data interpretation and analysis.Experience with standard laboratory techniques in a BSL-2 environment is a plus.Ability to work with human blood samples.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Immunology with 1.5 to 3 years of relevant experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

This position is part of a seven-member integration team within a larger group of 17 professionals. The role is predominantly lab-based, requiring 90% of work time on bench tasks. The work schedule is flexible with an 8am-5pm timeframe, with a preference for earlier starts. This is a Contract position based out of CARLSBAD, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr.
