Job Title Research Associate Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Kingsville, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Prepare proposals for funding agencies, operation of research equipment, supervision of graduate students and other lab/field personnel in research. The selected applicant will assist the Feline Research Program with multiple projects involving wild cats and other wildlife in South Texas and possibly other locations. The selected applicant will assist research and duties by undergraduate and graduate students and staff, and overall support of their various activities and needs by the Program and as needed by the Project Supervisor. Position will end on June 1, 2026 depending on grant funding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Design, plan, conduct , and coordinate experiments in support of various research projects . + Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research; keep detailed records of data. + Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results + Summarize results for inclusion in scientific and clientele - oriented publications. + Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies; maintain financial accounts related to research projects. + Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical , or field staff involved in research. + Install, operate , and/or repair research equipment. Additional Responsibilities + Leads carnivore (ocelot, bobcat, skunks) captures and sedations  + Leads non-invasive surveys (e.g. , scat and remote camera trap)  + Establishment of new remote camera and trapping stations  + Assists with VHF and GPS telemetry and remote sensing efforts + Serve as liaison with ranch managers and landowners + Assists with writing and editing reports, articles, scientific posters, and oral presentations  + Data entry and maintenance of pre-existing database + Assist students with field work and office work + Lead in efforts for overall data management + Assist with other aspects of project activities + May work some weekends Minimum Requirements Education –B achelor’s degree in relevant field Experience – Two years of related professional experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of - Knowledge of appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment. Ability to - Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks. Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Supervision Received/Given U nder general supervision, generally supervises All positions are security-sensitive.
