Research Assistant - #Staff
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a **_Research Assistant_** who will be responsible for the oversight of assigned research studies in support of the PI, postdocs, and other research and administrative staff. This position will also be responsible for basic data collection and management for several research projects. Screens and recruits potential study participants according to the protocol's inclusion and exclusion criteria. Will work directly under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and co-investigators. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Completes screening process in clinic settings to identify potential participants. + Recruits and consents potential study participants according to the protocols’ inclusion and exclusion criteria. Must be knowledgeable of the protocols so that study activities are completed correctly. + Ensures proper written informed consent from each study participant is obtained prior to entering the study; ensures proper storage of consent forms in participants’ research records. + Completes status update reports accurately and in a timely fashion to inform the study investigator. + Data collection to include abstracting data from paper and electronic medical records, conducting baseline and follow-up interviews over the phone or in person, and obtaining ancillary data for study participants. + Data management responsibilities include inputting, organizing, editing, and verifying the accuracy of data in databases. Serves as liaison between investigator and IRB for administrative matters. + Maintains knowledge of research study protocols. + Initiates and manages IRB applications. + Assists in the development of presentations, publications, toolkits, flyers, letters, and other materials for dissemination of research information. + Assists in the development of tables and figures for reports and manuscripts. + Assists in the coordination and participates in research study meetings, including the preparation of agendas and taking of detailed meeting minutes. + Assists with information communication and dissemination efforts, including website and newsletter maintenance and development. + Maintains project databases. + Using internal software tools, database, and script guidelines, reach out to study participants on the phone to speak with them about the project, determine eligibility, obtain oral consent, and record responses to interview questions. + Ensures security, quality, and confidentiality of data by following policies and procedures. + Make follow-up survey calls to enrolled participants. + Completes data entry + Participates in staff meetings. + Completes all training in a timely manner. _Additional administrative tasks may include:_ + Typing, filing, faxing, mass mailings, and chart review. + Assists in preparing recruitment and tracking update reports. + Assists in preparing monthly quality control and data management reports. + Other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. + Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a High School Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
