ASML is relentlessly driving the semiconductor industry’s ongoing quest for producing faster, smarter and more energy efficient chips. We are a young, dynamic, international and highly skilled workforce creating, with strong support of our suppliers, the lithographic tools the industry needs to achieve its goals.
Are you looking for a challenge to ensure the ultimate photonic solutions in our scanners and metrology instruments? Then you will enjoy this position in the Optics and Photonics group at ASML research. You will be part of the group responsible for demonstrating how new or existing technological solutions can be adapted to meet and exceed the needs of our metrology and lithographic tools.
Role and responsibilities
As research architect in the Optics and Photonics group you will be responsible for developing cutting edge photonic solutions and demonstrating their applicability to our industrial context. You will work in a fast paced and multi-disciplinary environment. Your responsibility is to take ownership of the experimental and theoretical work with the rest of the team and drive feasibility studies towards clear conclusions. This includes definition of the architecture, design, specification, development, documentation of photonic solutions as well as communication of the results towards various stakeholders. Using your technical knowledge, analytical thinking and people skills, you will work closely together with the team and other researchers at ASML.
You will join a project team whose mission is to focus on the development of photonic solutions for both our lithographic as well as our metrology tools. The job consists of:
Translate optical sensing concepts into photonic solutions in an industrial contextDefine the requirements, architecture and technology development needs for the photonic solutions and contribute to the photonics technology roadmapIdentify concepts and address technology maturityDesign and specification of photonic integrated circuitsDefinition of experiments for evaluation of these PICsWork together with other researchers towards better understanding of the technologiesGenerate new ideas and solutions for current and future photonic solutionsBuild a network towards other parts of the organization and academiaEducation and experiencePhD in Electrical engineering, Physics or Applied Physics with 4+ years of experience in the field of integrated photonics.Experience in identifying system-level needs and technology development needs for the photonic solution conceptsExperience in developing photonic integrated circuits: design and specification.Experience in designing photonic components using numerical methods such as FDTD, EME, and FEM and optics modeling software (e.g. Lumerical).Experience with experimental evaluation of PICsExperience with manufacturing of PICs and interacting with foundries.SkillsWorking at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that.
