YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is responsible for classifying chemical substances by analyzing their properties and hazards, following established guidelines and regulations. Accurate classification ensures compliance, maintains safety, and supports proper handling, storage, and disposal to protect human health and the environment. The position focuses on North America.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Research and Development Chemical Substance Classification North America, are to:
Have a strong understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) information, Bayer chemical characterization procedures as well as regional regulations and guidelines in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transport (DOT), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG), and International Air Transportation Association (IATA);Maintain the data and generate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Crop Science Research and Development (R&D) materials within North America in partnership with Global Sample Logistics, Corporate Product Stewardship & CPCO CS;Maintain label formats for shipping chemicals and other materials;Creation, maintenance, and lifecycle management in MM4SL/OS3 for ensuring globally usable materials for NA seasons;Participate in system and process integration;Perform training on new Information Technology (IT) tools and improvements;Participate in data management, analysis and reporting activities, including maintenance of appropriate records;Works with partners and stakeholders to collaborate and develop strategies across teams;Enhance products by synonyms in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) system (OS3);Be part of a global community to discuss adoptions of current Bayer products (OS3).

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree;Strong Chemistry background and regulatory compliance related to SDS;Ability to take initiative while keeping current with regional regulations and company policies;Ability to conduct complex activities that require specialized knowledge communicate complex ideas in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to a diverse team at all levels of the organization;Have a strong understanding of process interactions (Velocity/SAP): classification, forecasting, ordering, and shipments;Be Self-motivated, self-reflected and able to prioritize;Experience leading a team;Must have SAP knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in Dangerous goods (DG) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) classifications, creating Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Specification numbers and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) regulatory compliance; ORMaster’s degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in Dangerous goods (DG) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) classifications, creating Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Specification numbers and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) regulatory compliance; ORPh.D. with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in Dangerous goods (DG) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) classifications, creating Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Specification numbers and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) regulatory compliance;EH&S knowledge.

Relocation may be offered for this role.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $88,868.00 to $133,302.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
