**Job Summary**
The Center for Cell Plasticity and Organ Design is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful, and professional individual for an exciting and multi-faceted position as the Center?s business/operations manager. This individual will manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the Center and provide highly responsible and skilled administrative support to the Center Director and to its programs. This position requires the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple job responsibilities. The individual must demonstrate professionalism and success with working on complex, long-term projects and preparing data and reports.
The Center is administratively housed within the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology. In this position, you will join a diverse workforce and a dedicated team of administrative professionals who support the faculty, trainees, and staff, and their research in a large range of mission-dependent functions.
**Mission Statement**
The mission of the Center for Cell Plasticity and Organ Design is to coalesce and nurture research in developmental biology, stem cell biology, cellular reprogramming, organoid technology, tissue engineering, and tissue injury & repair to solve problems relevant to organ development and homeostasis, organ disease (including cancer), and tissue regeneration. The Center currently has over 160 faculty members from many different research areas distributed across the University of Michigan campuses. Center activities include a seminar series, biennial symposium, and a training program funded in part by an institutional training grant from the NIH. The goals of the Center include enhancing information exchange among basic, translational, and applied researchers; increasing interdisciplinary research in cell plasticity and organ design; assisting emerging investigators to establish externally funded research programs; training doctoral students in interdisciplinary research in the field of organogenesis; promoting the dissemination of new technologies for cell and organ manipulation and imaging.

**Responsibilities***
In this remote position, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Center, provide support to faculty and trainees within the Center, administer and manage all pre- and post-award phases of the NIH-funded institutional training grant activities, and report directly to the Director of the Center. A summary of your responsibilities includes:
**Center Oversight (20%):**
+ Collaborate with Center Director to set strategic Center priorities and activities
+ Coordinate efforts with Center Director to advance Center initiatives
+ Manage the business, administrative, and operational functions of the Center
+ Manage Center membership and promote membership activities
+ Collaborate with the Medical School Communications Team to develop, manage, promote and maintain Center website and social media platforms to increase Center engagement and visibility.
+ Oversee and coordinate Center seminar series, workshops, and symposia
+ Arrange and coordinate seminar speaker visits to the Center, including travel, housing, meals, meetings, and financial reimbursement.
+ Liaison between Center and other university departments in executing seminar speaker visits
+ Administer and implement Center internal controls, policies, procedures, and compliance
+ Provide guidance to Center Director and faculty on policies, procedures, compliancy, and best practices
+ Manage and maintain Center key performance indicators (e.g., collaborative grants, publications, training, event attendance)
+ Create and prepare ad hoc Center reports (e.g., impact reports for individual Departments)
+ Create and prepare annual reports on Center's activities and key metrics
+ Write, collect content, and distribute Center newsletters
+ Collaborate with Center Director to coordinate various committee and advisory board meetings and prepare related reports
+ Facilitate all phases of the Emerging Scholar Program activities that include the scholar recruitment and selection process, maintaining contact with Emerging Scholars, coordinating mentorship meetings, and collecting annual progress reports
**Training Program in Organogenesis Grant Administration (27.5%):**
+ Collaborate with Training Program Director and Associate Director on oversight and coordination of trainee and fellowship awards
+ Administer and manage NIH T32 pre- and post-award grant activities
+ Ensure compliance with Federal Uniform Guidance and UM ORSP requirements
+ Maintain trainee data related to appointments, terminations, stipend disbursements and expenses
+ Review and complete annual progress reports (RPPR) including reporting on individual trainee progress, collecting updated information from current and past trainees in accordance with NIH policies and procedures, and collaborate with the Director and Associate Director prior to submission to the funding agency
+ Facilitate timely submission of annual progress reports (RPPR)
+ Manage and disburse NIH T32 predoctoral trainee fellowships awards
+ Manage disbursements and monitor the spend down of the NIH T32 grant budget award
+ Provide oversight of NIH T32 grant project financial reconciliation, cost share commitments, shortfall requests, journal entries and personnel action requests
+ Coordinate and collaborate with Director, Associate Director and key personnel to prepare and submit a competing T32 renewal grant application every 5 years including research, grant writing, editing, ensuring evaluation criteria are met, identifying key project partners, collecting, analyzing and preparing data, completing all required attachments, preparing grant packet and submission of grant application
+ Collaborate with the Medical School Communications Team to manage, promote and maintain Training Program on Center website and social media platforms to increase Training Program visibility.
**Fiscal Oversight (10%):**
+ Prepare, forecast, provide oversight and manage the operating budget of the Center
+ Request cost share commitments from various campus units
+ Provide oversight of Center level financial reconciliation and monitor budget of $1M
+ Investigate and correct expenditures and deficit accounts
+ Manage, disburse, and reconcile CPOD Emerging Scholar award funds
+ Create and prepare honoraria and reimbursements for external speakers
+ Collaborate with Center Director to prepare budget to meet goals and objectives of Center priority areas
**Other Requirements (5%):**
Complete other duties as assigned by the Center and the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology. Assigned duties may include assisting with special projects (e.g., CPOD 30th anniversary symposium) or temporary tasks outside of core responsibilities.
**Required Qualifications***
+ Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
+ Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
+ Exceptional interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work and make decisions independently.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
+ Ability to interact with and build professional relationships with faculty, staff, and students at all levels.
+ Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
**Desired Qualifications***
+ Working knowledge of HR, Finance, eResearch and Student modules in M-Pathways.
+ Experience administering training grants.
+ Research administration experience specifically with NIH training grants.
+ A graduate degree (e.g., Masters or PhD) in the fields of education, biomedical research, and/or business administration is desired.
