Join AstraZeneca’s GBS Field Operations team as a senior Report Engineer and shape how data drives decisions across our Commercial organization. We’re looking for a seasoned data professional with 7+ years of experience—ideally with exposure to pharmaceutical marketing/field data—who thrives at the intersection of ETL engineering and insight generation. Why this roleImpact at scale: Enable data-driven decisions across multiple AZ brands, optimizing sales operations and field performance.Modern stack: Work with Python, SQL, PySpark, Apache Spark, and AWS Databricks in a cloud-first environment.End-to-end ownership: From data ingestion to dashboards and business recommendations—you’ll design, build, and influence.Pharma advantage: Apply or deepen experience with IQVIA Xponent & DDD and commercial data in a high-impact domain.What you’ll doETL Engineering: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable ETL pipelines using Python, SQL, PySpark to process large multi-source datasets into analytics and reporting environments.Performance & Reliability: Optimize workflows for speed, resilience, and cost efficiency in AWS Databricks; handle debugging, tuning, and complex data orchestration.Data Quality: Lead data cleansing, validation, enrichment, audits, and reconciliations to ensure trusted downstream analytics.Analytics & Reporting: Create standardized and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations to surface trends, patterns, and KPIs for sales, marketing, and field operations.Business Insights: Translate analysis into clear recommendations that improve targeting, coverage, and effectiveness of field teams.Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, business analysts, and commercial stakeholders to define requirements and deliver reliable reporting solutions.Documentation & Reuse: Maintain data flows, dictionaries, and process documentation to support scale and knowledge sharing.Continuous Improvement: Identify and execute process improvements; evaluate new quantitative methods and technologies to advance our analytics capabilities.What you’ll bringExperience: Minimum 7+ years in data analysis/engineering with proven ETL pipeline ownership. Experience with pharma marketing/field data is highly desirable.Technical depth: Strong data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL architecture fundamentals; hands-on Apache Spark and AWS Databricks.Performance mindset: Proficiency in debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing ETL for high-volume, complex data.Reporting capability: Ability to design dashboards and build reports; VBA automation experience is a plus.Domain knowledge: Familiarity with IQVIA Xponent & DDD, industry guidelines, and field reporting best practices is advantageous.Collaboration & communication: Excellent written and verbal communication with a track record of influencing business decisions through insights.Certifications: CRT020: Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark (Python) is a plus.Core strengths: Attention to detail, pattern recognition, organization, and time management; strategic and critical thinking with credibility among commercial leaders.What success looks likeTrusted data powering predictable reporting and advanced analytics.Faster, cleaner pipelines with measurable improvements in latency and reliability.Actionable insights that drive material business impact across AZ brands.Stakeholder confidence through clear storytelling, compelling visualizations, and decisive recommendations.
