The role of a Business Development Representative is to forge solid, strategic relationships with clients and create a customer connection that can withstand the inevitable pressures, mishaps, and confusion that can be a part of day-to-day business. This position involves developing an intellectual and emotional bond to support partnership, trust, and confidence.
ResponsibilitiesEngage in client relationship building by arranging in-person appointments, traveling to meet clients, being present on job sites, and ensuring regular communication through scheduled check-ins.Influence product specification by developing a strong technical understanding of products, working with lighting designers and specifiers, and managing effective substitutions.Set goals and manage portfolio by setting annual client relationship development and financial targets, developing an industry network, identifying client opportunities, and reviewing existing portfolios.Monitor portfolio performance by reviewing quarterly commission reports, identifying issues hindering higher performance, seeking revenue growth opportunities, and reviewing show reports.Interface with Project Management to ensure high-quality job execution by delivering timely data, following up on rental orders, and supporting timely invoicing and collection of accounts.Support and promote policies, procedures, and business models by promoting the Official Rental Product Line, managing client management policy, and observing accounting and administrative protocols.Work independently with regular interaction and support from VP Rentals by remaining focused on goals, engaging in proactive daily business practices, delegating non-Account Rep work, and seeking support when needed.Essential SkillsStrong sales skillsCustomer service expertiseLead generation capabilitiesCold calling proficiencyAppointment setting experienceProspecting abilitiesBusiness development acumenAccount management skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsHunters mentalitySales reps with audio experience preferredRelationship-orientedDecisive and results-drivenCompetitive self-starterComfortable with travelAbility to close dealsAttention to financial detailsProven track record of successNegotiation skillsStrategic business senseProblem-solving skillsWork EnvironmentThis is a remote position offering salary plus commission with uncapped earnings potential. The role includes a flexible work schedule and an expense reimbursement program. The position is not territory-based and involves outbound calls. A strong work ethic is necessary as this position does not offer a traditional work-life balance.
