Job overview
This professional role involves guiding individuals or groups toward optimal health by focusing on lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, and relationships. A Certified Integrative Health Coach empowers clients to make self-directed, lasting changes that are in alignment with their values. This job is with a health start up based in Austin, Texas that focuses on longevity and functional health.
Key responsibilities
Conduct health assessments: Perform comprehensive initial assessments to understand a client's health history, lifestyle, needs, and health and wellness goals.
Develop personalized wellness plans: Collaborate with clients to create customized wellness plans that set realistic, specific, and measurable goals.
Provide motivational support: Use techniques like motivational interviewing and active listening to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space and encourage positive behavior change.
Educate and provide resources: Offer evidence-based guidance and education on topics like nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and sleep hygiene. Refer clients to other health professionals when needs are outside the coach's scope of practice.
Monitor progress: Track and document client progress through regular check-ins and evaluate outcomes, adjusting the wellness plan as needed.
Facilitate group workshops: Develop and lead engaging group workshops or seminars on various health topics for corporate wellness programs, community centers, or other organizations.
Collaborate with a healthcare team: Work in tandem with physicians, dietitians, or therapists to ensure client care is coordinated and holistic.

Skills and Requirements
Qualifications
Certification: A certification from a recognized health coaching program is often required. Certifications from institutions like the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) are highly valued.
Education: A bachelor's degree in health science, nutrition, psychology, or a related field is often preferred, but not always essential.
Experience: Previous experience in health coaching, health education, or a related wellness field is beneficial.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of holistic health principles, behavior change theories, and motivational interviewing techniques.
