About You and The Role  

As a Remanufacturing Technician at Zipline, you'll be responsible for restoring used hardware into flight- and test-ready condition. Remanufacturing Technicians use their depth of experience assembling and troubleshooting electromechanical designs to identify opportunities for rework and executing repairs to rebuild assemblies and return them for continued use in test.

This is a 6 month contract role, based out of our HQ in South San Francisco, California.

What You'll Do   Receive and sort returned hardware, keeping a close record of inventory and hardware damage Perform stock counts, reconcile discrepancies, and update records in real time. Handle returns (RMA processes), inbound receiving, and store hardware with care to avoid introducing new defects Troubleshoot hardware failures and document suspected root cause for damage Rework products to bring them back to functional or cosmetic spec. Clearly document repair work and all changes made to hardware Partner with Design and Test Engineering to improve reworkability and identify new salvage opportunities by brainstorming new rework methods  Run functional test on reworked hardware and troubleshoot test failures What You'll Bring  At least 3+ years of technician experience in manufacturing, quality, new product introduction, or remanufacturing  Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills Passion for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling mechanical and electronic components. Strong quality mindset to catch deviations from spec. Familiarity with functional test procedures, test jigs, or automated test stations. Experience retesting units post-repair to ensure compliance with quality standards. Strong technical literacy: able to read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documents Proficiency with warehouse or asset tracking software  Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills Experience collaborating with engineering to debug, retest, and improve real-world hardware Grit, curiosity, and the drive to own problems end to end

Other Requirements Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform hands-on work throughout the day Comfort working with tools, chemicals, and hardware in a lab/manufacturing environment (including respirator use when required) What Else You Need to Know   

The starting cash range for this role is $33 - $40 per hour. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
