Key Accountabilities:
Assembly and/or disassembly of MTU and other engines, systems, and components per specificationInspect and evaluate components for defects such as breakage and excessive wear based on specifications and drawingsRecommend core acceptance or rejection based on inspection and evaluationInspect, operate, and test products to validate functionality and conformance to specificationsAnalyze and interpret test results obtained from inspections to diagnose equipment capabilities and next stepsPosition and align components for assembly, manually or using hoistsCreate and implement new processes, fixturing and tooling as neededInspect, rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies, following guidance based on component condition using machines, power tools and hand toolsCollect, read, and interpret disassembly and assembly blueprints and specification manuals, as well as plan disassembly, assembly or building operationsVerify and document conformance of parts to blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometersOperate forklifts, overhead and jib cranes safely to maneuver parts or equipment as neededPerform appropriate SAP transactions for tracking and process complianceSupport Engineering and/or Quality to submit deviation request for out-of-scope repairsOperate a variety of mechanical and CNC machinery including mills and lathes, but not limited to, Blanchard rotary surface grinder, balancing machine (turbos), crack testing equipment, Merlin injector tester and valve grinderPerform special projects as needed and maintain flexibility on the job by providing support in other related areasMaintain clean and orderly work areas and comply with safety regulations to help ensure a safe working environmentPromote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of ConductPerform special projects as required.Basic Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED and two years field service, mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experiencePreferred Qualifications:
Advanced operational ability and skill, as demonstrated by acquiring the points associated with Skilled Based Pay Competency Level 3Skilled use of mechanical and electrical hand toolsSkilled use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systemsKnowledge in technical language and engineering terminologyKnowledge in the practical principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics, and pneumaticsGood factory representation, customer service and interpersonal skillsGood organizational, planning and follow up skillsGood analytical and creative problem-solving skills when problems are very complexGood oral and written communication skillsGood knowledge in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants, and oilsAbility to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lbs. rangeAbility to use a PC and MS Office SuiteExperience with MTU engines and electronicsExperience in a large engine service industryExperience in operating forklift trucksExperience in rigging of weights up to 5 tonsExperience in report and service letter writingAbility to work any shift and overtime as requiredWork Conditions:
