The Opportunity:

The Reliability Engineer provides technical expertise in root cause failure analysis, reliability-centered maintenance, and preventative maintenance systems. This role is responsible for supporting the facility’s mechanical integrity program and recommending improvements to maintenance strategies, practices, and asset performance. The position may also supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of maintenance personnel (electrical and mechanical) as needed. This position reports to the Reliability and Maintenance Manager.

 

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock: 

Administers and models safety in assigned areas; participates in and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold compliance with OSHA and plant safety standards.Develops predictive and preventative maintenance systems to proactively prevent process failures. Implements, oversees and documents preventive and corrective maintenance processes of industrial equipment and building systems.Provides support with capital projects, including equipment materials selection, layout for maintainability, standardization, installation, maintenance procedures, and start-up of new equipment; ensures identification and stocking of critical spare parts.Safely and efficiently supervises and coordinates activities of Maintenance Technicians engaged in installing, rebuilding, and maintaining equipment and assets.Provides a process to receive feedback from Maintenance Technicians completing jobs to adjust and improve work plans.Communicates directly with operations to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.Maintains and consistently applies a thorough working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Ensures compliance with all environmental policies, procedures, and regulations at the city, county, state, and federal levels.


What you need to succeed:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering.Experience: 0–2 years of industry or technical exposure in maintenance, engineering, or manufacturing.
