Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Electrical Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our plant’s electrical infrastructure, instrumentation systems, and combustion burner technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical engineering, a passion for continuous improvement, and a commitment to operational excellence.

ResponsibilitiesMaximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through systematic evaluation and improvement initiatives utilizing established electrical maintenance, reliability, and engineering best practices and processes.Champion and drive optimization of the CMMS to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance programs.Identify, develop and leverage internal and external subject matter expertise to drive improvements in maintenance and reliability execution.Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations, including capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues.Apply Reliability modeling and prediction, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Asset criticality assessments.Oversee calibration, maintenance, and reliability of process instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level.Support maintenance team by advising on critical spare instrumentation parts, rebuild kits, and instruments.Lead instrumentation upgrades and support commissioning of new equipment.Develop documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation systems.Monitor and optimize performance of combustion systems used in smelting and refining processes.Ensure burner systems meet environmental and safety regulations, including emissions and flame safety.Troubleshoot burner control systems, including flame scanners, actuators, and fuel delivery systems.Collaborate with process engineers to improve thermal efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.5+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, preferably in metals, recycling, or heavy manufacturing.Strong knowledge of electrical codes, instrumentation, and combustion systems.Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP) and control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).Strong knowledge of electrical equipment found in low voltage electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switch gear, power circuit breakers, and grounding systems.Experience with motor control centers, motor control circuits, VFDs, soft starters, electrical protection systems, smart MCCs, and relays.Industrial instrumentation design, specification, and maintenance support.Process instrumentation familiarity for flowmeters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, analyzers, and weighing systems.Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in a heavy industrial plant setting.Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEEE, ISA, NFPA, CSA).Experience managing small capital projects in coordination with site maintenance, operations teams, and capital project group.Demonstrated ability to revise procedures relating to inspection, repair, and maintenance as required.Experience working with third-party engineering consulting firms specializing in engineering evaluations.Solid experience in facilitating Root-cause Analysis and corrective actions.Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.Knowledge of HART communication protocols for transmitter configuration.Work Environment

The role requires working onsite from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. Candidates must have the ability to move about the plant and work in hot production areas, as well as wear necessary equipment in designated areas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
