Reliability Analyst Intern
**11072BR** **PRS Facility Location:** EMD HQ LaGrange, IL - 400 **Job Purpose:** Provide a student pursuing an undergraduate degree or in a graduate program with practical work experience to supplement an academic field of study. Position would normally be a temporary assignment to be utilized during student’s vacation period. At Progress Rail, the team is not just building the future of rail—they are making history every day. **Education / Training:** Required: • Pursuing an engineering college degree; • Statistical training. **Job Title:** Reliability Analyst Intern **City:** La Grange **Key Job Elements:** • Complete assignments within a department or activity which utilizes the employee’s academic discipline; • Assist in test data collection and analysis to fulfill Closed Loop Corrective Action process; • Assist development of reliability mathematical models; • Maintain reports for management review; • Application of statistics to problem solving; • Work cooperatively and efficiently with other personnel; • Work with product design engineers to develop and implement reliability-based verification artifacts; • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment. **Qualifications and Experience:** Required: • Knowledge of standard Microsoft applications; • Medium level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; • Medium level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult. Preferred: • Strong interpersonal skills including working in a cross-functional team environment; • Understanding of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis; • Derive, validate and document failure rates, modes and effects at product level; • Experience with Closed Loop Corrective Action System for failure analysis and corrective action; • Understanding with Weibull analyses; • Understanding of problem solving, root cause analysis and experience with segregating reliability failures from manufacturing defects and misdiagnosis. Essential and Physical Activities Functions • Strength – This is a traditional office setting and requires the occasional lifting of weight of 50lbs. Lifting boxes of paper; • Motion – This is a traditional office setting and requires the use of a computer, keyboard and other equipment. Employee will be sitting the majority of the day with occasional walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and driving; • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers and utilize all office equipment; • Work Environment – Work is in office sitting and not exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The position may require some work on the manufacturing floor that could expose candidate to all environmental aspects; • Emotional Demands – Employee is expected to quickly pick up tasks in a fast-paced office environment and maybe required to give presentation, speak in public and work in teams; • Safety – This is not a safety sensitive position.
