Release Management Lead
Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.

We are seeking a highly skilled Release Management lead to join our Digital Banking portfolio in the Self-Serve space. This role will be responsible for managing both bundle releases (coordinated multi-team deployments) and independent releases (single feature/team deployments), ensuring high-quality, predictable, and efficient delivery.

The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in release transformation and optimization, with the ability to re-imagine and continuously improve how releases are planned, orchestrated, and delivered across distributed Agile teams.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

.    Own the end-to-end release management process for Self-Serve digital banking features, spanning bundle and independent release models.
.    Partner with delivery teams, product owners, QA, DevOps, and environment teams to define release scope, timelines, and dependencies.
.    Drive release transformation initiatives—optimizing processes, introducing automation, improving release governance, and reducing lead time to production.
.    Define and enforce release readiness criteria, including code quality, test coverage, risk assessments, and compliance.
.    Manage release calendars, ensuring alignment across portfolios, shared services, and downstream systems.
.    Identify and resolve release conflicts, risks, and bottlenecks, escalating where necessary.
.    Champion continuous improvement by introducing metrics, dashboards, and retrospectives that measure release efficiency, stability, and business impact.
.    Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and environment teams to mature CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation in support of faster, safer releases.
.    Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders on release status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
.    Build a culture of release discipline and accountability while fostering agility and flexibility to support business priorities.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

.    5–8+ years of Release Management experience in large-scale Digital Banking, Financial Services, or complex enterprise environments.
.    Strong experience handling bundle and independent releases, balancing governance with agility.
.    Demonstrated success in release transformation and optimization, including automation, tooling (e.g., Jira, Confluence, GitHub, ServiceNow), and process redesign.
.    Solid understanding of Agile at scale (SAFe preferred), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native delivery models.
.    Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to influence at senior leadership levels.
.    Proven ability to manage multi-geography delivery teams and align diverse stakeholders to common release objectives.
.    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
Nice to Have
.    Experience in Digital Self-Serve banking (online, mobile, authentication, account servicing).
.    Exposure to AI-enabled release management tools or advanced automation frameworks.
.    Certification(s) such as SAFe RTE, PMP, or ITIL Release Management.
