Relay Protection Engineer
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a skilled and experienced Relay Protection Engineer to support one of our large energy companies. This engineer supports battery-site operations and helps protect the grid by designing and maintaining relay systems. You’ll partner closely with a lead engineer and the field teams to make sure the system stays safe, reliable, and up to date with modern technology. • Work on relay protection systems that keep the power grid stable and prevent outages. • Help design, test, and update protection settings for substations and battery sites. • Review electrical drawings and logic diagrams to make sure everything works correctly. • Partner with field teams to test and troubleshoot equipment when issues come up. • Analyze system events and make recommendations to prevent future problems. • Spend most of your time doing engineering work in the office (about 80%), with occasional site visits to see the equipment in action. Skills and Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field • Experience with protection systems or relays (SEL, GE, ABB, etc.) • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one-lines • Strong analytical skills; can troubleshoot and validate relay settings • Comfortable working mostly in-office (80%) with some site visits • Experience with battery storage or microgrid protection systems • Familiarity with ASPEN OneLiner, ETAP, or SKM for system studies
