About this RoleWe’re looking for a skilled Relay & Apparatus Technician to join our team and support critical power‑system protection and electrical apparatus projects across North America. In this hands‑on field role, you’ll test, troubleshoot, commission, and maintain high‑voltage equipment while upholding the highest standards of safety, precision, and craftsmanship. What You'll DoAs a Relay & Apparatus Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability of protection and control systems and electrical power apparatus. Your responsibilities will include:
Testing, troubleshooting, and inspecting complex electrical systemsPerforming acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning testing on circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, SF6 interrupters, grounding systems, battery banks, relays, meters, motor control centers, and SCADA systemsOperating test equipment (Doble, Manta, Vanguard, Omicron)Communicating with relay platforms (SEL, Multilin, Basler)Using software such as DTA, Protection Suite, Enoserve/RTS, PTM, AcceleratorInterpreting protection and control schemes and electrical drawingsTroubleshooting and repairing complex electrical circuitsWriting clear test reports in Microsoft Word and ExcelThis will require extensive, nationwide, travel.What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
High school graduate or GED equivalentExperience in high-voltage testing, either relay or apparatusHigh level of proficiency with test sets such as Doble, Manta, Vanguard, OmicronMust be willing to travel interstate, on a weekly/bi-weekly basisStrong organization skills and attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingMaintaining strong client relationships
