Job Description

JOB PURPOSE STATEMEN                                                                    

Reporting to the Head of Business Growth, the Relationship Manager Corporate Banking will be responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with a portfolio of high-value corporate clients. The role focuses on driving sustainable revenue growth through the delivery of tailored financial solutions to corporate clients. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to corporate clients, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships through innovative banking solutions and exceptional service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

Strategic Client Relationship Management

Develop and maintain long-term banking relationships with corporate clients across key industries to drive sustainable business and IFS growth.

Serve as the primary relationship manager for a designated portfolio of corporate accounts, acting as their main point of contact for all banking needs.

Conduct regular business visits and reviews with clients to assess financial needs, evaluate service quality, identify opportunities, and strengthen relationships.

Coordinate customer engagement forums and represent the bank at industry forums and networking events to showcase corporate banking solutions as well as enhancing brand visibility and market positioning.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

Identify and onboard new high-value corporate clients to expand the bank’s portfolio and market share.

Drive cross-selling of corporate banking products (loans, trade finance, cash management, treasury, FX, and other available investment solutions) with corporate clients to grow non-interest income.

Prepare and present financial proposals and pitches to prospective clients.

Conducting financial literacy trainings and participating in sales activations in collaboration with Business units and other business departments.

Drive digital banking adoption through Host to Host, Internet banking and Digi to grow nonfunded income.

Manage Faulu money market by ensuring timely support on customer investments and resolving queries.

Credit Analysis & Risk Management

Monitoring portfolio at risk for consumer facilities while providing leadership through collaboration with Business Units, Credit Teams, and corporates to reduce Portfolio at Risk for loan products advanced through IFS.

Conduct financial analysis, risk assessments, and due diligence for corporate clients and prepare credit proposals ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit policies and regulatory requirements.

Oversee the performance of the corporate banking portfolio, ensuring profitability and minimal risk exposure.

Monitor loan performance and proactively manage potential risks in the portfolio

Market & Industry Intelligence

Analyze industry trends, economic shifts, and competitor activities to position the bank as a market leader.

Provide insights to senior management on sector-specific risks and opportunities.

ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in commerce/business related field.Have a minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate banking.Extensive knowledge and understanding of bank Credit risk management policies, and operation procedures.2 years’ experience in Relationship Management with a proven track record of customer acquisition and management

Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.

Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.

Document Preparation

Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.

Insights and Reporting

Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.

Customer Relationship Management / Account Management

Develop and implement a relationship management plan for existing customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the customer organization and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues. Collect feedback from identified customers or customer segments to ensure their needs are met, providing themes, summary analyses, and recommendations for changes based on customer input.

Financial Advice

Handle the financial advice process within a specific client segment, ensuring alignment with their goals and values.

Sales

Sell simple products and services directly to customers while following standard protocols. May also involve providing back-office support to a sales team.

Operational Compliance

Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
