This position is located in Baton Rouge and serves as a Program Specialist in all activities statewide for the agency's Case Management/Financial Information System (AWARE/PRM), requiring extensive knowledge of the consumer process and caseload movement. This major system supports an eligibility issuance and financial process for Louisiana Rehabilitation Services' (LRS) Vocational Rehabilitation Program, which is the flagship program of the agency.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in rehabilitation services plus one of the following:
A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in rehabilitation services, social services, human resources, or education; OR
A bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling; OR
A master's degree.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of LRS Management's information system, AWARE.
+ Coordinate assignments and priorities for user acceptance testing and validation of all fixes and enhancements in the user acceptance-testing environment and advise Customer Relationship Management staff and Information Technology Application Support Project Leaders of the testing status.
+ Plans, coordinates, and implements specific initiatives and special projects as they relate to the Case Management/Financial Information System. This involves testing and validation of all changes.
+ Attend Alliance training and webinars to stay abreast of the changes/upgrades to AWARE.
+ Provides case management and rehabilitation counseling duties for Vocational Rehabilitation cases of LRS employees and employee family members (definition of family member includes spouse, child, or any other individual related by kinship, adoption, or marriage who is living In the same household as the employee; or if not living in the same household, is dependent upon the employee for personal care or services on a continuing basis).
+ Schedules referrals of employees and employee family members for interviews to assess potential eligibility for VR services and provides recommendations to the LRS Director for eligibility approval as required by LRS procedures.
+ Provides rehabilitation counseling services to eligible employees and family members in accordance with the LRS Technical Assistance and Guidance manual, including coordination of individuals' plans for rehabilitation if determined eligible in an Order of Selection Group category being served by LRS. Provides all required caseload activities and data collection for cases assigned.
+ Assist with the implementation of procedures for the Case Management/Financial Information System. Provide technical and consultative assistance to Rehabilitation Counselor Associates, Counselors, District Supervisors, Regional Managers, LRS State Office staff through instructional guidance and training in the automated systems implementation of program policy and procedures.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants), a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees), or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.

Compensation: The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
