Duties Description Independently performs the duties and activities of a Rehabilitation Assistant 1 listed below; and may supervise and train Rehabilitation Assistants 1 and/or direct care staff and perform the full range of supervisory duties.Provides paraprofessional rehabilitation services to individuals in psychosocial support, vocational rehabilitation, competency training, and residential services program areas.• Interviews and gathers individuals’ information; assists in conducting assessments to determine individuals’ potential and existing capabilities and interests; and in developing and implementing rehabilitation plans, including goals and objectives.• Assists in planning and conducting group rehabilitation activities, and in developing group protocols and curriculum.• Observes and reports individuals’ participation, response, and behavior; and may recommend modifications to rehabilitation plans based on observations.• Participates in treatment team meetings; and assists in determining individuals’ progress and rehabilitation needs.• Maintains records and documentation in accordance with program standards and requirements.• May monitor and maintain supply inventories; and schedule and arrange for rehabilitation activities and special events.The IES Job Developer is responsible for facilitating the mission of Integrated Employment Services (IES) by providing person-centered services and supports that develop, improve, and maintain employability skills. The goal of IES is to assist each individual to reach their highest level of independence in the least restrictive work environment. Services are community-based across WNY in volunteer locations, classroom settings, and employment situations at businesses. Interviews and gathers individuals’ information; assists in conducting assessments to determine individuals’ potential and existing capabilities and interests; and in developing and implementing vocational plans, including goals and objectives. Assist individuals navigate the various services and supports related to employment. Create relationships and network to find businesses that will hire and support people with disabilities; negotiate hours and pay to mutually benefit both the worker and the business. Assist individuals navigate job interviews and tours. Mentor and provide training to Job Coaches. May need to provide time-limited job coaching on site as needed. Maintains and reviews billing documentation in accordance with program standards, regulations and requirements. Observes and reports individuals’ participation, response, and behavior; and may recommend modifications to vocational plans based on observations. Monitors daily work of the individuals, observe individual’s work habits, consult with other worksite staff and Team members.Participates in Life Plan meetings, IES team meetings; and assists in determining individuals’ progress and rehabilitation needs. Schedule may need to be flexible to meet the needs of IES and individuals. Travel required. Minimum Qualifications Rehab Assistant 1 Promotion: one year of service as a Direct Support Assistant, Mental Health Therapy Aide, or Licensed Practical Nurse and reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service Eligible List for this title. Rehab Assistant 1 Open Competitive: One year of experience assisting individuals with daily living skills and habits; taking care of their personal needs; and ensuring a comfortable home environment.Rehab Assistant 2 Promotion: two years of service as a Rehabilitation Assistant 1.Rehab Assistant 2 Open Competitive: Two years of experience assisting individuals with daily living skills and habits; taking care of their personal needs; and ensuring a comfortable home environment.
Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.• The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
