Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Regulatory Interconnection Specialist. This Specialist with expertise in North American bulk electric system operations and ISO market structures to provide technical guidance to our control system engineering team. This role focuses on ensuring BESS plant controller compliance with regulatory requirements and optimal participation in ancillary services markets across various ISO territories. Key Responsibilities: • Provide technical guidance on regulatory compliance for BESS plant controllers operating in ISO markets including PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ERCOT, and others •Review and validate control system designs for compliance with NERC and IEEE reliability standards and regional market rules • Advise on ancillary services participation strategies for frequency regulation, spinning reserves, non-spinning reserves, voltage support services, FFR (Fast Frequency Response), and PRF (Primary Reserve Frequency) • Support ICCP implementation and configuration for real time market communication with ISOs and RTOs •Collaborate with control system engineers on setpoint management, state of charge optimization, and market dispatch integration • Interpret market signals and requirements for translation into PLC control logic and HMI displays • Support performance validation testing to ensure market participation requirements are met • Interface with utility customers, schedulers, and market operators on technical requirements •Stay current with evolving market rules and grid codes affecting energy storage participation $55-$60/HR We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience working with directly with Independent System Operators (ISO) like PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ERCOT, and others Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs Experience with BESS or other energy storage technologies in grid applications Experience bulk electrical systems like NERC827 or IEE2800
