Regulatory Ingredients Specialist I

 

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: The Regulatory Ingredients Specialist I is part of our Research & Development team and reports directly to the Senior Ingredients & Nutrition Regulatory Manager. This role supports the development of food products by accurately reviewing product and ingredient specifications that help drive plant production. The role is also responsible in assisting the creation of new ingredients and their on-going management ensuring federal compliance and accuracy within the company.  The overall goal of this role is to support both research and development as well as plant teams in ingredient production, regulations, safety, and logistics. This role is located in-office full time at our Corporate office in Greeley, CO.

 

Responsibilities:

Audit and publish product specifications for Pilgrim’s processing plants within PLM recipe developmentAssist BRC audit process; cross reference projects within Pilgrim’s project management systemMaintain communication site between Pilgrim’s and co-manufacturers including product specifications, BRC audits, and vital plant informationCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Regulatory, Labeling, Product Developers, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Insights and Innovation Team to help the company be productive in the marketplaceAssist Regulatory Specialist II in the creation and maintenance of ingredient specifications in compliance with federal regulation standardsCompile timely and accurate answers to internal and external regulatory questions pertaining to allergens, product formulations, and claimsAssist Regulatory Specialist II and Manager with supplier auditsEvaluate and manage ingredient suppliers’ regulatory documentation including technical documents, 3rd party certifications, and letters of guarantee Assist with supplier scorecard presentationsWork with external parties including suppliers and co-manufacturers Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dietetics, or related technical field, preferred0-1 year of related professional experienceAt least 1 year of experience in a consumer-packaged goods company, preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteHighly attentive to detail, self-motivatedAbility to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once with assistance from managerExcellent organization skills, project management skills, and the ability to multitaskAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organizationKnowledge of USDA regulatory landscape in the US as it relates to food product claims, claims substantiation, food and nutrition policies, allergen policies, and food safety preferred Problem solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to create solutionsAbility to travel 10-15% of the timeCan perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

 

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule; Base salary of $58,000; Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and Career Development: Our company is dedicated to supporting professional growth by offering continuous learning opportunities and a focus on career growth through various learning and development programs.
