General Summary:

This job is in addition to a series of three involving registrations; admission, bed management, financial clearance and cash determination/collection/reconciliation of provided services. Responsible for obtaining and validating patient information from various sources and to ensure information entered into the practice management system is accurate. Performs the pre-registration/registration process for all inpatient/outpatients. Obtains required forms and signatures and completes all managed care notification requirements.  May be required to enter laboratory orders when the Ambulatory Care Center is closed and to contact the physician’s office when necessary. Other duties are as assigned.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. 

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):

None.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High school graduate or GED equivalent.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; bilingual in Spanish required in Health Centers (Safety Net) sites only. Computer literacy in Microsoft products and email. One-year experience of customer service experience. Familiarity with health insurance/payors and medical terminology preferred. Related college level courses may be considered in lieu of work experience.Strong customer service and organizational skills.Ability and willingness to transport patients by wheelchair.

ADDENDUM:  Bilingual in Spanish not required for Health Partners (Kensington and Asbury).

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to Director or designated supervisor.
