Experienced RVT's Wanted for ER Receiving and ICU Departments

VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center is a fast-paced, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice in beautiful San Diego, California. 

Compensation : $ 25.50 - $ 35 / hr

Schedules: Day, Swing and Grave Yard shifts available

AWW (4x10hrs)

Shift differentials range from $2.50 - $5.50 an hour depending on shift. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience and other relevant credentials.

We are seeking experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our brand new, state of the art hospital, located in Mission Valley.
The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care.

In this position you will be supporting our Doctors by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.  Duties will include:

Place and maintain IV catheters and central linesAdminister IV fluids, CRI's and medication per DVM ordersPerform Blood draws, including arterial blood samplesSet up and monitor oxygen therapy, including nasal cannulas, oxygen cages, and ventilatorsManage Feeding Tubes (NG, esophagostomy and PEG)Continuous monitoring of critical ill or post-operative patientsAssess vitals (heart rate, Respiratory Rate, Temperature, Blood Pressure, Spo2)Monitor pain levels and administer prescribed analgesiaAssist with physical examinations and patient assessmentsSurgical preparation and assisting Anesthesia Induction/monitoringPatient recovery and animal husbandryMaintaining medical records Filling prescriptionsPerforming laboratory work and diagnostic imagingProviding compassionate care and a home away from home for hospitalized pets

QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 1-2 year of proven past experience in a veterinary setting.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Excellent listening and communication skills
Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions
Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action
The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste
