Our Pulmonary team is the largest respiratory care department in the enterprise, serving patients with the highest levels of acuity. Respiratory Therapists (RTs) in this unit work at the full scope of their licensure—with a high level of independence and clinical decision-making.

We prioritize flexibility and work-life balance—RTs have the opportunity to create their own schedules, allowing for greater personal and professional well-being.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.  

Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.  

Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. 

Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications/treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.  

Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Associate's Degree and graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program 

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure 

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Assocation (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Previous experience in adult critical care 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Bachelor’s Degree

Physical Requirements:

Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.

May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
