Cleveland Clinic's Sleep Disorders Center is a multispecialty, comprehensive program dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children and adults. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the center is comprised of specialists in neurology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, psychiatry, psychology and otolaryngology.
**A caregiver in this position works nights + on-call requirements, from 7:00pm-7:30am or 8:30pm-6:30am.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing.
+ Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
+ Perform and document testing.
+ Monitor patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
+ Instruct non-registered and trainees. Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies.
+ Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements. Performs QA.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High school diploma or GED
+ Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
+ Registered Polysomnography Technologist, under the BRPT guidelines

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires full range of body motion including standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients.
+ Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
+ Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
+ Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
+ Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
+ Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
