We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Office Of Public Health team as a Registered Nurse Supervisor assigned to the Jefferson Parish Health Unit in the Region 1. This RN supervisor Provides first line supervision of nursing activities in any clinical setting, participates in parish level health unit operation and performs job duties as outlined and assigned within the scope of practice designated by the La. Nurse Practice Act (I.R.S. 37:911) and adheres to the policies, procedures and standards of the La. Dept. of Health /Office of Public Health.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Functions as the lead worker of the Reproductive Health Program in the parish health unit. Responsibilities also include performing generalized nursing duties according to OPH policies, procedures, and program protocols in the following programs: Immunization, STD, TB, RH. Additional functions of this position include responding to emergencies and public health threats 24/7, i.e. hurricanes, floods, pandemic flu, and other public health threats as they emerge. Administrative supervision is received by the Regional Nurse Manager.
+ Supervises the conduct of clinics to ensure patients receive needed services, program requirements are maintained and appropriate follow-up appointments and/or treatment are given utilizing the continuous quality improvement process.
+ Maintains adequate required pharmaceuticals, appropriate equipment, and educational materials for the delivery of care.
+ Responsible for the documentation and posting of lab results in the client’s record. Maintains the Reproductive Health abnormal pap log.
+ Supervises and conducts nursing care for all parish programs such as Immunizations, STD, RH, and Tuberculosis.
+ Obtains complete health history, conducts nursing assessments, and provides direct patient care according to OPH policies and protocols. Educates patients in special procedures, provides preventive health education and counsels clients and families on such topics as personal hygiene, preventive health care, nutrition, safety, self-breast examination, STD’s etc.
+ Serves as a STD/RH clinician in the treatment, counseling, and monitoring of patients in the parish health unit.
+ Provides professional nursing care, leadership and / or surveillance in response to emergency situations in the community and statewide in the staffing of Medical Needs Shelters and other public health responses to emergencies. Participates in OPH training for MNS.
+ Attends seminars, workshops, and in-service training and other continuing education programs as required for job performance and to maintain professional expertise and licensing.
