The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is recruiting for a full-timeRN Sr. – Infection Prevention/ Wound Care Nurse at the State Veterans Home in Post Falls.
The ideal candidate in this position must have primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or another related field. They must be qualified by education, training, experience, or certification, and have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
The employee in this position serves as the subject matter expert related to skin and wound issues and wound dressing and healing.
Responsibilities:
· Reviews all admissions for potential infections and reportable communicable diseases.
· Ensures compliance with Federal, State and VA guidelines and regulations.
· Is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the Infection Prevention & Control Program IPCP which includes Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship.
· Assists with health and safety programs and services to employees, focusing on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of occupational illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards.
· Collects, prepares, and analyzes healthcare associated infection data, monitors associate compliance with infection control standards through use of barriers and infection prevention measures, and makes recommendations for actions to leadership.
· Assists in the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and guidelines.
· Conducts chart audits to support these efforts.
· Performs and reports yearly Medical Care Studies; collects, analyzes, and maintains data that is deemed relevant for educational and administrative use as well as quality improvement for Infection Control and other specified departments.
· Performs lead professional nursing duties within a specialized program with responsibility for staff or program oversight.
· Plans, conducts and organizes clinical training sessions for agency staff.
· Coordinates and maintains liaison with other health agencies.
· Evaluates resident wounds to determine the appropriate course of treatment
· Develops and implements individualized wound care plans
· Cleans and dresses wounds, maintaining a high standard and best practice
· Monitors and documents patient progress, updating treatment plans as necessary
· Educates residents and their families on wound care best practices and infection prevention
· Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to optimize resident care
· Adheres to all healthcare regulations and safety standards
Minimum Qualifications:
· Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418. For licensure information, please contact the Idaho Board of Nursing at http://ib.idaho.gov or call (208) 577-2476

Experience:
· Performing nursing assessments and developing and implementing nursing care plans.
Minimum Qualification Specialties:
· Certification in Infection Prevention from an accredited institution or program.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Completed Specialized training in infection prevention and control.
· Experience working as an Occupational Health Nurse.
· Experience entering data in the Center for Disease Control (CDC) NHSN reporting system.
· Experience in resident/patient wound care
