Variable – primarily night shift

Every 3rd weekend rotation – night shift

Where You Will Work:

Experience a true Orthopedic Med/Surg environment on 3MESG, South Shore’s primary surgical unit, where you'll care for patients recovering from procedures like total knee replacements, bowel resections, and amputations Broaden your clinical exposure with a diverse mix of medical cases—from pneumonia and DKA to alcohol withdrawal—and stable pediatric patients aged 16+, all within a fast-paced 33-bed unit.

We’re Looking For:

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

What You’ll Do:

Deliver individualized care using the nursing process—assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, mobilizing resources and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Promote patient safety by implementing risk-reduction strategies and reporting safety events promptly.

Educate patients and families, adapting teaching methods to meet unique learning needs and supporting readiness for discharge.

Coordinate care and discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach, ensuring continuity across the healthcare continuum.

Lead and delegate effectively, fostering teamwork and supporting unlicensed personnel.

Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and unit performance.

Maintain professional growth through ongoing education, competency completion, and participation in shared governance activities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

Must be able to:

lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.

carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.

Must be able to:

push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.

perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.

May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.

Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
