This position is accountable for assigned patients, demonstrates understanding of nursing and its issues and is an advocate for patient/families and nursing. **General Hours of Work** + Monday through Friday – Saturday rotation as needed (8:00 am - 5:00 pm) **Education and/or Experience** + A graduate of accredited school of nursing. One to two years nursing experience preferred. Bi-lingual experience preferred but not required. **Certificate, Licenses, Registrations** + Licensed as RN/LPN to practice in the state of Iowa. Must obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire date. **RN Essential Functions** + Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with facility standards. + Initiates appropriate patient/family education following assessment of learning and discharge needs. + Documents nursing intervention and patient/family response accurately, legibly, and in compliance with clinic policies. + Promotes and maintains a safe and calm environment for complex patients by ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment, and necessary services. + Assists in making clinical decisions based on scientific principles, systematic approach and experience. + Assists in identifying actual and potential risk to patients and/or families and assists in initiating appropriate action to minimize risk. + Administers medications and treatments/procedures as directed, and as appropriate for the patient’s medical care, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. + Appropriately delegates tasks/procedures to other team members who are prepared/qualified to perform. + Contributes to the learning experience of students and staff by modeling competent nursing practice. + Works frequently with computer software systems. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. **LPN Essential Functions** + Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served. + Utilizing the nursing process assists the physician in providing patient care. + Demonstrates ability to identify physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient and appropriately reports to the physician. + Promotes and maintains a safe and calm environment for complex patients by ensuring appropriate supplies, equipment and necessary services. + Identifies actual and potential risk to patient and/or families and initiates appropriate action to minimize risk. + Administers medications and treatments/procedures as directed, and as appropriate for the patient’s medical care, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. + Utilizes internal and community resources in planning care and initiating referrals. + Works frequently with computer software systems. + Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
