**Responsibilities**
+ **Ensure Coding Accuracy** : Review patient admissions and work with coding staff to ensure accurate code assignments reflecting clinical status and care.
+ **Collaborate with Providers** : Engage with physicians and mid-level providers to request additional documentation and clarify discrepancies in medical records.
+ **Support Severity and Service Level** : Ensure accurate reflection of severity of illness and services provided by resolving physician queries and documentation issues before discharge.
+ **Provide Education** : Educate the healthcare team on documentation opportunities, coding best practices, reimbursement issues, and quality improvement activities.
**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
+ Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
**Additional Preferences**
+ At least 5 years with recent inpatient adult acute care bedside experience
+ Critical Care or Cardiac telemetry experience highly preferred
+ CDI/CDS experience preferred
+ BSN preferred
+ Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Google
