Pathways Center's Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU's) are short term (2-7 days), medically monitored crisis residential programs, which offer services for a limited duration to stabilize acute psychiatric or behavioral symptoms, evaluate treatment needs, and develop plans to meet the needs of persons served. The programs operate 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The CSU's are designed to serve as a first line of community based alternative care to hospitalization, offering psychiatric stabilization and detoxification services on a short-term basis. The Registered Nurse (RN) works 12-hour shifts – 3 days one week; 4 days next week; and rotates weekends (typically one to two weekends per month). Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse include but are not limited to the following: □ New admissions: interview clients and/or family members using acceptable techniques that are appropriate for the individual's level of functioning to obtain necessary information regarding medical, social, and/or emotional background □ Review referrals, and make preliminary determinations regarding appropriateness for admission and communicate with physician to obtain admission orders. □ Perform routine tests and take vital signs regularly as prescribed in each individual plan of care □ Accurately document clinical notes using the organization's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system □ Collaborate effectively with other treatment team members (physicians, mid-level practitioners, counselors, pharmacist, case managers, social service technician, etc.) in the development of and monitoring of each client's plan of care □ Modify plan of care as indicated by reassessment of individual's needs □ Administer medication(s) in the proper method, time, and dosage as indicated by the established plan of care and document in client’s electronic medication record; Explain medication and treatment to patient/consumer □ Make rounds, either with physician/mid-level practitioner or independently as required or appropriate □ Immediately respond to clients in acute distress according to established guidelines □ Regularly monitor patient compliance with health instructions (e.g. dietary guidelines) and medication; Take corrective action as necessary □ Develop complete discharge plans in collaboration with members of treatment team □ Adhere to universal precautions in all situations to prevent the spread of infection □ Actively participate in departmental staff meetings as required to discuss needs, goals, objectives, and outcomes of services, quality assurance, infection control, compliance, etc. Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse or Multistate license; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Registered Nurse 1 (HCP070) or position equivalent.
