**General Summary** Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and supportive role to assist the patients and their families. May require specialized skills depending on location/unit/specialty assignment. **Duties and Responsibilities** **Essential Functions:** + Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients. + Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients. + Carries out physician orders such as administering prescribed medications or treatments, preparing an operating room, order lab tests, x-rays, etc... + Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies. + Assists provider during examinations, non-operative and operative procedures. + Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. + Assists in patient care related activities such as changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs, starting IV solutions and inserting tubes. + Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members. + Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties. + Prepares and maintains records of patient charges. + Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s).
