The Henry Ford Fairlane ED is a 50 bed, freestanding ER that is connected to a medical center. Our providers (both physicians and MLPs) see PEDS and adult patients, and take EMS traffic, when appropriate. We believe in working together-our staff supports one another in a close-knit, team-focused environment. We also collaborate very closely with pharmacy, lab, US, and especially radiology. In line with HFH values, we respect and appreciate diversity, both in ourselves and in those we treat. We aim to continuously seek out and provide best and safest practices, caring for our patients as we would our family and loved ones.
Nurses who work here should have BLS, ACLS, WELLES, ENPC, and TNCC certifications. Expect to mix medications, assist with advanced ventilation, such as intubation, bipap, high-flow o2, and neb. treatments. We see behavioral health patients and have two rooms set up for safest care of these patients. As our providers work with virtual psychiatry, our nursing staff works with HFH SW to facilitate proper placement for continued care. Our department shares educators and a safety team with Plymouth ED and our staff can be expected to complete competencies and training at Plymouth at times. We use EPIC and PYXIS, and a "team nursing" approach to care, ideally at a 4:1 ratio, but hold each other accountable to help out more, as needed. In general, work reductions are kept at a minimum.
Headed by a Director, a Nurse Manager, and a Nursing Supervisor who are supportive and present, this newer department is a melting pot of team members who are committed to excellence. We strive to remain hyper-focused on safety and teamwork through constant re-evaluation and keeping open lines of communication. Our team has been and will continue to be dedicated to looking out for each other and working together to provide the best care to our patients and community.
