The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans’ population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
Make a difference in the lives of those who served. The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a dedicated and skilled RN to serve as aRegistered Nurse Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). In this leadership role, you'll support the Director of Nursing in overseeing clinical operations, guiding nursing staff, and ensuring the highest standards of care for our veteran residents.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Five years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Serves as the day shift House Supervisor. Makes daily rounds of the Nursing Units.
+ Receives reports from each nursing care unit and evaluates if nursing staff need to be altered or if other issues need to be addressed.
+ Serves as the Wound Care Committee Chairperson.
+ Evaluates the care delivery for all wounds and evaluates the progress of wound healing. Submits reports to the Nursing Director and other committee members.
+ Supervises, reviews, and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff in the delivery of resident care and also provides recommendations as needed to improve performance.
+ Provides consultation for conflict resolution. Prepares performance evaluations on subordinate staff. Organizes, delivers, and evaluates in-services to enhance the performance of staff in their delivery of resident care.
+ Acts as consultant, demonstrator, and resource person to nursing personnel and conducts Quality Assurance audits as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Maintains open lines of communication with the Director of Nursing to be knowledgeable of new and/or revised policies, new concepts in nursing, administrative decisions, civil service rulings, etc.
