Registered Nurse
National Youth Advocate Program
**We are looking for a part-time Registered Nurse to join our new Emergency Reception Center program in Chicago.**
**Hours- 8a-8p prn (as needed) with some flexibility in hours and days as well as an on call rotation.**
**Hourly rate is $32.50/hr.**
**Staff will provide on-site assessment, clinical and support services to youth awaiting placement. The Reception Center will be a more home-like environment and will be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. It will be available to accept youth at any time of the day or night, and it will have workstation areas where DCFS staff can use their laptops and work together with NYAP Reception Center staff to locate placements for youth.**
**Services offered at NYAP’s Reception Center will include:**
+ Behavioral Stabilization Support, including crisis de-escalation and short-term evidence-based clinical services;
+ Comprehensive Assessment that is strengths-based and person-directed;
+ Intensive and Creative Placement and Permanency Planning based on assessment results and the tenets of the Casey Family Programs Permanency Roundtable Model;
+ Group Treatment, Support Groups, and Structured Activities; and
+ Basic Care as needed, including personal care supplies and places to eat, shower, relax and/or sleep for short periods.
**Position Summary**
The Registered Nurse position provides medical assistance to the clients served through NYAP including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Registered Nurse will perform duties including, but not limited to:
+ Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
+ Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.
+ Identify abnormal findings and notify the client’s physician or consulting physicians.
+ Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met.
+ Assure the administration of medication and/or treatment as needed.
+ Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner.
+ Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.
+ Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each child.
+ Assure the program’s compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders
+ Provide in-service training and continued education to staff on health-care related needs of adolescents, CPR, and First Aid.
+ Maintain Red Cross CPR/First Aid Trainer’s Certification.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Must be a Registered Nurse with an appropriate Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
+ Must have a valid Registered Nursing license
+ Nursing experience working with children and adolescents is required.
+ Must be available for on-call phone consultations as needed.
+ Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs.
+ Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
+ Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
**Driving and Vehicle Requirements**
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Reliable personal transportation
+ Good driving record
+ Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability required.
