Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Description

The Registered Nurse operates under the direction of the Medical Director and Center Licensed Physician(s) to determine the acceptability of first-time and returning donors. The role involves ensuring donor suitability by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with FDA guidance and regulations. The Registered Nurse also reviews donor laboratory tests and refers abnormal results to the physician for further review. Additionally, the role includes providing medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and plasma processing areas.

ResponsibilitiesPerform physical examinations for new donors, returning applicant donors, and annual donors, excluding those receiving red blood cell immunizations.Administer and respond to donor inquiries regarding Plasmapheresis Informed Consent, RSV Plasmapheresis Informed Consent, and informed consent for applicable donation programs.Administer the AIDS Bulletin and assess donors' understanding of high-risk activities.Maintain accurate, legible, and complete donor records in accordance with cGMP.Review normal donor laboratory work within time requirements as outlined in SOPs and refer abnormal lab work to the Licensed Center Physician(s).Observe and approve staff training in medically related areas.Ensure donor reviews are executed in accordance with SOPs.Provide immediate care and assessment of all donor reactions.Review all medical incidents and record appropriate DAE in the donor center system, managing incidents as necessary.Complete and manage all Medical Incident Reports and conduct follow-ups with donors in accordance with SOPs.Licensed Nursing staff administers employee Hepatitis B immunizations in accordance with protocol.Administer donor immunizations as applicable.Communicate compliance or risk areas to the Center Director and Quality Manager.Provide confidential counseling to donors who are ineligible for donation.Maintain knowledge of all donation programs.Attend staff meetings and training sessions.Seek assistance from the center physician for matters outside defined responsibilities and authority.Travel required on an as-needed basis.Perform additional duties related to or supporting business needs as assigned by the Medical Director or Center Management.Essential SkillsCurrent RN or LPN License in the state of MD Required.Strong organizational skills.Strict adherence to current good manufacturing procedures.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to interpret medical information and formulate appropriate actions.Availability to work extended shifts and weekends.Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.Ability to lift, pull, or tug up to 40 lbs.Ability to work within a cold environment (-30°C) for short periods of time.Extended periods of standing and bending.Ability to train others.CPR certified or ability to obtain certification.Additional Skills & QualificationsBSN or similar clinical program required.Experience in Medical, Triage, Case Management, Phlebotomy, Managed Care, Clinical Care.BLS certification.Bachelor of Science degree.Work Environment

The role is based at the Donor Center and operates on site from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, with no weekend work required. The shift will be split between opening to mid or mid to close, ensuring that five 12-hour days are not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $45.00/hr.
