The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) role centers on the prevention of adverse health effects from occupational and environmental hazards within the work environment. The OHN fosters a holistic, multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of safe, quality, and comprehensive occupational and environmental health programs aimed at preventive health care, health promotion, and health restoration. The OHN has the responsibility to coordinate designated components of OHS program as assigned and is expected to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to identify health and safety needs, prioritize interventions, develop and implement programs, and evaluate care and delivery services for Mayo Clinic employees. Computer hardware, appropriate software utilization and critical thinking must be incorporated into daily job functions. A successful OHN will be able to: work autonomously and as a team member; demonstrate basic knowledge and advance his/her knowledge and skills in occupational health; keep current on best practices through evidence-based research, consensus, and guidelines; set priorities, manage workload, and meet deadlines; communicate effectively and build partnerships with a wide variety of healthcare team members and employees; effectively lead teams/committees/workgroups; provide case management of occupational and non-occupational illness and injuries; perform health hazard assessment and surveillance of worker populations.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.



Qualifications

Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program with successful experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous three years. Master's in nursing, public health, occupational health nursing, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. Experience working in occupational health within an acute care setting and/or public health experience preferred. Current certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred. 

1-year professional RN experience required. An interest in contributing to unit leadership through program coordination, process improvement, and operational support. Current Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certification from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) or commitment to become certified within 12 months of employment.

Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.

License and Certification (Must obtain prior to start date): 
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.

BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).

Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

The pay for this role is $34.84-$57.84. Mayo Clinic has an innovative nursing compensation model that rewards experience, education, and dedication to the organization.
