Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse—Lactation Consultant (Maternal Child Dept, Postpartum) to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA.

Employment Status: Full Time Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly. Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) or nine (9) hour period. Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Experience: Possess a minimum of 1 year experience as an RN within the last two years Certifications: Board Certification Possess and maintain certification as a lactation consultant as determined by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). in addition to Basic Life Support. Possess and maintain certification of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Licensure: Possess and maintain certification as a lactation consultant and Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse as required in the TO.

Job Summary:

Actively promote breastfeeding and develop and implement standards of care and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers in all areas of the organization as well as existing programs, such as: OB, Childbirth Education, and Breastfeeding classes. Be responsible for organizing information and preparing marketing material to promote breastfeeding, collaborating with Department Heads from Pediatrics, Family Practice, and OB/GYN for patient care education.
