Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! We are seeking aRegistered Nurse Seniorto join our nursing department. SHW is located inNampa. SHW is a 16-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital (for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old) nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. SHW provides psychiatric inpatient treatment care for Idaho’s adolescent citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living and is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
Employees will be required to work weekends, holidays, and day shifts.
This position is not eligible for telework.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
+ Provide direct supervision to a team of nurses, supporting clinical practice, professional development, and operational efficiency.
+ Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff to ensure effective patient care.
+ Act as a resource for managing complex cases and making urgent clinical decisions.
+ Ensure quality, safety, and continuity of care across the clinical unit.
+ Assign patient care responsibilities and adjust staffing assignments as needed.
+ Support daily operations through coordination of shift huddles and hand-off communications.
+ Monitor workload balance among staff and assist in resolving workflow-related concerns.
+ Provide direct supervision including coaching, feedback, and ongoing support to team members.
+ Identify staff development needs, address concerns, and collaborate on performance improvement plans.
+ Conduct probationary and annual performance evaluations for all classified direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.
+ Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418. + Experience performing nursing assessments and developing and implementing nursing care plans. Typically gained by at least six months work experience.
