Registered Mammography Technologist - Lourdes Hospital

Job Summary:

The Registered Mammography Technologist produces high quality breast imaging procedures while following guidelines established by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist), ACR (American College of Radiology) and MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program).  They will perform all screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) scans according to established protocols and procedures for interpretation by supervising physician.

Essential Functions:

Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures.                                                                                 Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and consent is obtained by performing physician.                                                                                                                               Correlates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed provider. Conveys patient's clinical history to licensed provider prior to examination.                                                                                                     Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results. Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images.                                                                                                                                        Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.                          Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of the mammographic procedures.       Provides patient education and discharge instructions.                                    Participates in the department's quality assessments and improvement plans.

Education:

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)  

Required Licensing & Certifications:

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)Advanced modality registration in Mammography, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within 1 year)State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Experience:

1 year experience as a registered mammography technologist (preferred)
