**Job Summary**
Plan and implement the nutritional support necessary for the effective nutrition diagnosis and treatment of diseases of assigned hospitalized and ambulatory patients.

**Responsibilities***
+ Evaluate, recommend, educate, and implement comprehensive and specialized nutritional support for patients with complex treatment and diagnostic needs.
+ Perform nutrition diagnosis, develop nutrition care plan, and deliver appropriate nutrition interventions.
+ Assist in the development of objectives of care, education, standards of practice and programs to assess outcomes of nutrition diagnosis and treatment plans.
+ Educate patient and family on appropriate diet therapy and how to measure the effectiveness of the required changes upon discharge.
+ Serve as a consultant to the healthcare team concerning patient treatment plans, established practices, policies, and procedures.
+ Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
+ In the ambulatory care setting, engage patients and family members in making behavioral changes to optimize self- care management and achieve positive outcomes
+ Perform other related duties as assigned
**SUPERVISION RECEIVED**
General supervision is received from the Manager of Nutrition Services (inpatient) or Manager of UMMG Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (ambulatory care) or another designated official.
**SUPERVISION EXCERCISED**
Functional supervision is exercised over Dietetic Technicians and support staff.
**Required Qualifications***
+ Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
+ If licensed on or after January 1, 2024: Master's degree
+ This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
Physical Requirements: This position requires standing/walking, and/or infrequent lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
**Desired Qualifications***
Some experience in clinical dietetics is desirable.

**Union Affiliation**
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
**Background Screening**
