Registered / Certified Behavior Technician
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) School-Based | Full-Time | 2025–2026 School Year Exclusive to Amergis Position Overview The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supports students with special needs by implementing educational and behavioral services within a school setting. This role focuses on assisting with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)–based interventions and collaborating closely with school professionals, behavior teams, and other specialists to support student learning and behavioral goals. This is a school-based role, which differs significantly from clinic settings. RBTs must be comfortable working with multiple students, adapting to dynamic school environments, and supporting classrooms and 1:1 assignments as needed. Specific school placement will be determined after the interview process. Key Responsibilities + Implement ABA-based behavior intervention plans under BCBA supervision + Support students individually (1:1) and within classroom settings + Assist students with severe behaviors, which may include: + Aggression + Self-injury + Property destruction + Elopement + Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and behavior teams + Collect behavioral data and assist with documentation as required + Adapt interventions to meet the needs of different schools, classrooms, and students Important Role Expectations + Flexibility is required – RBTs may be assigned to different schools, classrooms, or 1:1 supports based on need + Dependability is critical – this is a Monday–Friday school role; consistent attendance is required + This is not a clinic environment – school settings are less controlled and require adaptability + Candidates must be comfortable and confident working with severe behaviors + Scheduling accommodations are limited; schools rely on RBT support for daily student needs Minimum Requirements + Active RBT certification and/or State Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) license (as applicable per state/contract) + High School diploma or equivalent (required) + At least 18 years of age + One (1) year relevant experience preferred + Two (2) years relevant experience preferred + Associate’s degree in behavioral studies or related field (preferred) + Ability to comply with all professional standards of practice + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements Health & Compliance Requirements + CPR certification (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (as required) + Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation) RBT Certification Details + RBTs must have: + Completed a 40-hour training program + Passed a competency assessment + Passed the RBT exam administered by a BCBA + BCBA supervision is provided + Supervision occurs at least twice per month + RBT certification is renewed every 2 years Position Details + Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday + Hours: 37.5 hours per week + No weekends or holidays + Bell schedule varies by assigned school + Contract Length: 2025–2026 school year + Estimated Start Date: February 9, 2026 + Number of Openings: 2 + Modality/Specialty: Registered Behavior Technician Interview Process + 20-minute virtual interviews + Interview with Behavior Team and/or EC Director + Please include specific interview availability (dates and time slots) with submission Submission Requirements Please submit the following: + Updated resume + Two (2) professional references : + From the last 1–2 years + One must be a supervisor reference + References may be included in the body of the submission email + Active RBT certification *Email resume to Amanda at amalmand@amergis.com or text 813-261-4384 to schedule a call!* Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
