**Job Description**
The Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer will perform diagnostic tests of the cardiovascular systems on patients and aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders. Participates in the non-invasive cardiovascular procedures.
**Qualifications**

+ Graduate of an accredited vascular technology or diagnostic medical sonography program.
+ Credentialed as RVT (ARDMS) or RVS (CCI).
+ Minimum 2 years of vascular lab experience preferred.
+ Proficiency in IAC-compliant scanning protocols and reporting standards.
+ Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
+ BLS certification required.
**Compensation Statement**
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $54.20 - $59.75 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

**Responsibilities**
**_Responsibilities_**
+ Demonstrates competency in the techniques and range of equipment used in current medical practice for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients.
+ Performs echocardiogram, exercise stress echocardiogram testing and Dobutamine stress echocardiogram testing and/or vascular ultrasound exams and vascular stress testing (PVR), per credentialing, to aid in diagnosis of the cardiovascular system. Responsibilities may include to train and conduct performance of fetal echocardiograms in pediatric setting.
+ If in a pediatric setting, may perform transthoracic echocardiogram examinations in pediatric and congenital cardiac patients, from neonatal to adult age range.
+ Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical pathological and diagnostic images. Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
+ Maintains required departmental records. Maintains day-to-day patient and study logs, data acquisition, and records statistical data (procedure volumes/interpretation volumes) as applicable.
+ Assures that equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications.
+ Cleans and maintains ultrasound equipment and scan rooms.
+ Reports any malfunctions as they occur per hospital policy.
+ Participates in department process improvement projects.
+ Prepares preliminary interpretation and report for Attending Cardiologist’s review. For critical results/findings notifies provider per institutional policy
+ Maintains infection control policy and procedures.
+ Consults with cardiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements.
+ Assists in maintenance of supply inventory and requests necessary supplies for test area.
+ Completes continuing education to enhance professional growth and maintain credentials.
+ Assists students and fellows learning in lab and may assist in the evaluation of students.
+ Performing comprehensive arterial and venous duplex imaging of the upper and lower extremities.
+ Conducting graft surveillance and dialysis access evaluations (fistula/graft patency, maturation, and flow).
+ Performing venous reflux studies with proper patient positioning and documentation.
+ Evaluating abdominal vasculature, including mesenteric, renal, and aortic systems.
+ Acquiring and analyzing hemodynamic data using spectral, color Doppler, and B-mode imaging.
+ Preparing preliminary reports in the vascular reporting system and communicating urgent findings per protocol.
+ Maintaining accurate records for quality assurance, case logs, and accreditation compliance.
+ Assisting with lab audits, peer reviews, protocol updates, and equipment performance tracking as part of the lab’s quality improvement program.
+ Providing patient care in accordance with clinical and safety guidelines, including patient education and comfort during procedures.
+ Maintaining cleanliness, equipment readiness, and adherence to infection control standards
+ Perform non-invasive vascular ultrasound studies in accordance with IAC accreditation standards and lab protocols.
+ Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
