Regional Operation Support McKinney-Vento Transportation Coordinator
Van Pool Transportation LLCThe McKinney-Vento Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating transportation services for students experiencing homelessness in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. This role ensures timely, safe, and compliant transportation for students to and from school, addressing their unique needs to promote access to education. Key Responsibilities: + Coordinate Transportation: Schedule and facilitate transportation services for eligible McKinney-Vento students to ensure access to their school of origin or school of choice, in compliance with state and federal regulations. Engage with and build relationships with local operations teams that will oversee dispatching and routing of students. + Communication & Liaison: Serve As a point of contact for school districts, school appointed liaisons and other third parties to support and confirm, transportation needs & confirm shared cost billing information when scheduling transportation of students. + Data Management: Maintain accurate records and documentation for all McKinney-Vento students receiving transportation services. Update and manage student eligibility status, transportation routes, and service logs in coordination with school district policies. + Compliance: Ensure compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and any state-specific transportation regulations. Stay updated on changes to relevant laws and policies. Ensure contractual agreements are executed and completed by fiscally responsible school districts. Follow established pricing and rate quoting guidelines. + Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any transportation issues, delays, or emergencies in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to students’ educational access. Provide alternative solutions as necessary to maintain transportation continuity. + Training & Guidance: Provide guidance to transportation staff and drivers regarding McKinney-Vento student needs, fostering understanding of their unique circumstances and promoting sensitivity in service delivery. Engage with and build relationships with local operations teams that will oversee dispatching and routing of students. Qualifications: + Education:High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Social Work, Transportation, etc.) is preferred. + Experience:Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, transportation coordination, or a school district role preferred. Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk populations is a plus. + Skills and Competencies: + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. + Ability to work in our current routing data source to effectively place students. + Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. + Knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and its implications for transportation. + Proficient in data entry and management systems. + Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Working Conditions: + Work Environment: Beacon is a professional environment involving constant interaction with drivers, monitors, transportation coordinators, management, and other employees. Work is typically in an office setting, with occasional travel to schools or transportation hubs. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. + Physical Demands:Ability to sit for long periods while managing dispatch operations.
