This role provides technical governance over resource estimation, grade control strategy, reconciliation performance, and geological risk management, ensuring compliance with applicable reporting codes (e.g., S-K 1300, NI 43-101, JORC).

The position integrates geology with mine planning, geotechnical engineering, metallurgy, and exploration to maximize resource conversion, minimize dilution, and improve reserve confidence.

At Barrick, our vision is to be the world’s most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. We are committed to a safe work environment, sending every person home safe and healthy every day, and leaving a sustainable legacy on our host communities.

Responsibilities:

Mineral Resource Governance

Establish and enforce regional standards for:

Geological interpretation and domaining.Drill spacing strategies and infill programs.Resource classification criteria (Measured, Indicated, Inferred).Cut-off grade assumptions and economic parameters (in coordination with planning).

Own and ensure compliance to Barrick and site standards and guidelines for resource estimation.

Own the timely delivery of resource models to agreed dates with stakeholders by coordinating with key management personnel.

Review and approve site-level Mineral Resource estimates.

Ensure defensible documentation and audit-ready technical reports.

Oversee independent reviews and Qualified Person (QP) sign-offs.

Resource Development & Conversion

Drive resource-to-reserve conversion strategies.

Optimize infill drilling to reduce geological uncertainty and improve confidence categories.

Identify geological upside opportunities within existing mine footprints.

Provide geological input into life-of-mine (LOM) planning and pit/underground optimization studies.

Grade Control & Reconciliation

Establish regional grade control standards and sampling protocols.

Oversee reconciliation between:

Resource model vs. grade control model.Mined grades vs. predicted grades.Mill head grades vs. resource estimates.

Analyze sources of variance (sampling bias, domaining errors, density assignment, short-range variability).

Implement corrective actions to improve predictability and reduce risk.

Data Quality & QA/QC

Ensure robust QA/QC programs including standards, blanks, duplicates, and umpire assays.

Oversee drillhole database governance and validation protocols.

Standardize data management systems and audit trails across sites.

Ensure compliance with chain-of-custody and laboratory quality standards.

Technical Leadership

Mentor and develop site-level resource and grade control geologists.

Build regional capability in structural geology, geostatistics, and economic geology.

Provide technical oversight for complex orebody interpretations (structurally controlled systems, vein-hosted deposits, stratiform systems, porphyry environments, etc.).

Own and drive continuous improvement towards best-practice modeling and resource estimation workflows.

Engage external consultants where specialized expertise is required.

Strategic Planning & Due Diligence

Prioritize a strategic delivery pipeline of projects to feed annual business plans and evaluations.

Evaluate geological risk profiles for development-stage assets.

Identify exploration targets adjacent to operating mines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Coordinate with:

Geological Modeling teams for estimation methodology alignment.Mine Planning for dilution control and sequencing strategies.Geotechnical Engineering for structural model integration.Metallurgy for geometallurgical domain definition and recovery forecasting.Operations to ensure practical implementation of geological controls.
