Regional Manager, Industrial & Emergency Response

This role is a leadership role responsible for overseeing HAZMAT, industrial project work, industrial tank cleaning, and emergency response operations within the region. As the subject matter expert, this position blends strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership to ensure readiness, compliance, and excellence in incident response. The role works closely with our Operations leaders, other ER/Industrial services leaders, the National Director of ER, and cross-functional teams to standardize practices, enhance capabilities, and grow business opportunities, protecting people, property, and the environment while strengthening GFL’s position as an industry leader.
Key Accountabilities
Leadership & Operational Readiness: Lead and participate in all major activations within the region and support staff where needed to maintain a high level of ER execution. Ensure all ER centers maintain a high state of readiness, including personnel, equipment maintenance, and training. Develop systems that provide for visibility of assets, their locations and conditions and their management. Provide or manage inspections and audits on response centers within your region ensuring readiness and preparedness.Regional Collaboration & Standardization: Partner with other Regional ER Managers to standardize SOPs, documentation, training matrices, equipment, and regional pricing models.KPI Development & Performance Tracking: Establish and monitor key performance indicators for emergency readiness, incident outcomes, and operational efficiency. Provide regular performance reports and recommend course corrections as needed.Budget & CAPEX Planning: Collaborate with other RMER Regional ER Managers to develop and submit the annual CAPEX budget for all Liquid East ER operations to the Director of Operations.Business Development: Work in support of business development to augment and grow response services across the region and country. Collaborate with the National Director of ER, Regional ER Managers, regulatory officials, and industry stakeholders to expand national response accounts, grow the retainer and ERAP portfolio, and build lasting relationships with major clients in rail, marine, and road transportation sectors. Support business opportunities with the region and across the organization including RFPs/Tenders/Bids.People Leadership: Demonstrate strong leadership and team-building skills, supporting local managers in recruiting, developing, and retaining personnel to strengthen and grow emergency response services. Oversee and, when required, deliver hands-on training to ensure response teams are skilled, equipped, and ready for deployment at all times.Regulatory Compliance & Industry Awareness: Oversee and support all compliance auditing processes, liaising with regulators and company leaders to ensure ER operations meet or exceed federal, state, and local requirements, while staying current on emerging HAZMAT best practices.Qualifications:
Minimum of 7-years at managerial level or higher within the emergency response field.Strong leadership skills qualities and ability to build a strong team experience.Working knowledge of key players in the market and associated relationships.High level of organization skills.Excellent written and communication skills.Strong ability to plan, prioritize and execute.Experienced in the use of Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, MS Word and other general business software.Must be meticulous, organized and motivated.Exceptional problem-solving skills, highly motivated and meticulous attention to details.Exceptional communication and customer service skills supporting the Regional Manager.Ability to multi-task and problem solve in fast-paced, high-stress situations.Perform other duties as required.#GFLTalent
