The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products. The Environmental team has responsibility for developing and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs.
We are seeking a Regional Environmental Engineer to be responsible for AWS environmental compliance in Dublin. The Regional Environmental Engineer will ensure standards and policies support regulatory compliance, and they will provide appropriate environmental guidance to regional operations, design and construction teams. The individual will complete contractual and environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics and guide partner teams in the implementation of Amazon environmental procedures. The Regional Environmental Engineer will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.
The Regional Environmental Engineer must have excellent communication skills, strong environmental regulatory knowledge, demonstrated success in program development and project management of complex and technical projects.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental strategic programs across multiple sites, integrating insights from operations, engineering, and construction teams
- Manage environmental compliance by navigating local and national regulations, ensuring adherence to Amazon's rigorous standards
- Conduct thorough environmental audits and investigations, creating actionable insights and corrective measures
- Build collaborative relationships with governmental agencies, internal stakeholders, and external consultants
- Create and track environmental performance metrics to measure, monitor, and forecast organizational impact

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in environmental management or technical advisory roles
- Demonstrated knowledge of Irish and EU environmental regulations, with experience in environmental compliance, permitting, waste management, and water discharge requirements
- Experience implementing environmental management systems (such as ISO14001) and conducting environmental impact assessments
- Project management experience with proficiency in MS Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment
- Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
- Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
- Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains
